The Jeep Wagoneer was an early sport utility vehicle (SUV), produced under varying marques from 1963 to 1991. It was noteworthy for being in production for more than 28 years with only minor mechanical changes. An overhead cam engine, along with independent front suspension (both later discontinued), supplemented with features unheard of in any other 4WD vehicle (including power steering and automatic transmission), made it revolutionary at the time. A solid front axle was available as well. Compared with offerings from International Harvester and Land Rover — which were producing utilitarian work-oriented vehicles that were quite spartan and truck-like on the inside — the Wagoneer was the first true luxury 4x4.

In early 1970 American Motors acquired Jeep and set about refining and upgrading the range. AMC also improved manufacturing efficiency and lowered costs by incorporating shared components such as engines. Reducing noise, vibration and harshness improved the Wagoneer driving experience. The outsourced Buick 350 was replaced by the 360 in3 (5.9 L) AMC V8, and later the 401 in3 (6.6 L) was made available. The innovative Quadra-Trac full-time four-wheel-drive system, which broadened the appeal of Jeep products to people who wanted four-wheel-drive traction without the inconvenience of a manual-shift transfer case and manual locking hubs, was introduced in 1973. In 1974 AMC resurrected the two-door Wagoneer as the Cherokee. This replaced the Jeepster Commando, whose sales had not met expectations despite an extensive 1972 revamp. The Cherokee appealed to a younger market than the Wagoneer, which was regarded more as a family SUV.

Washington Mutual was closed by the U.S. government in by far the largest failure of a U.S. bank, and its banking assets were sold to JPMorgan Chase for $1.9 billion.
The rescue marks a historic step to clean up a U.S. financial system littered with toxic mortgage debt.

"With insufficient liquidity to meet its obligations, WaMu was in an unsafe and unsound condition to transact business," the OTS said.

Air pressure gauge Allen wrenches Baling wire Crescent wrench (small & medium) Electrical tape & spare connectors Grease (or a grease gun) Hammer Nuts & bolts (assorted sizes) Open end/box wrenches (3/8" to 3/4") Pliers - standard, needle-nose and channel lock Pocket/utility knife Screwdrivers - standard and phillips Socket set (3/8") with extensions Standard & phillips screwdrivers Super glue/epoxy Vise grips Wire & wire cutters/crimpers. This is the minimum , however more tools never hurt. A well stocked, well secured tool box is always welcome.

CNG a fuel ,whose time has come.

With gas prices at a peak and becoming very unaffodable. One can ask is it time for CNG.

First question to ask is safety. It is a pressurized gas , how will refueling be safe for the average american , who has a hard time paying attention to driving ,let alone refueling a pressurized gas.

Secondly, the distribution system. How will it be done ? What infrastructure is needed ?

Advantage , it will lessen our dependence on foreign oil. We do have a nice supply , right here in America.

Heavy vehicle operators are looking , to use this fuel. It does pollute less, uses less foreign oil, cheaper to purchase. ACE 1 JEEPS sells and installs kits for CNG.

Buses are using natural gas in urban areas.

Collectively have more than 1.4 million vehicle on the road. The state of California has the largest amount of CNG refueling stations.

Jeeps and heaps

This is our initial post. Jeeps , heaps and others. We are going to talk of ,Jeeps , project jeeps and heaps that wish to be projects. We use Jeeps as our business , its part of our lifestyle and our recreation. We off road, use them as daily drivers, and race them when we can.

Its not cheap to drive a SUV , a truck or a JEEP. But, who the hell wants to drive a car ? As long as I can afford it , its my choice , its America and I will do so. My Jeeps and trucks are paid for, and the extra gas I use , sure doesn't add up to a car payment. My Grand Cherokee gets 23-25 mpg , if you keep it a 70 mph , use synthetic oil and fluids, keep the tires pumped up, and use a high flow air filter. I must travel off the road , in the course of my business , a Toyota Camry ,wouldn't get it done. I need to carry tools and other items , again a econobox wouldn't get it done. Capacity , capability all are reasons to drive a 4wd truck and/or SUV OR JEEP.
